Our two bosses are on a grand tour in the Netherlands! On Wednesday, 3 December 2025, the journey began with stop no. 1: a visit to our regular guest, friend, collab partner AND Vice World Champion Beer Sommelier Dennis Kort and his Oldskool Brewery in Eindhoven. In the evening, there was a meetup at Dennis’ pub, the Drinkerspub. Roland and Ossi met there with Dennis and his colleagues and friends from the Gooische Bierbrouwerij. The beer selection at the Drinkerspub is impressive: 1,000 different beers – 30 of them on tap. How many were tasted that night remains a secret. In any case, it was a cheerful, sociable, and informative evening with Dennis and the crew. The second stop of the Netherlands trip took Roland and Ossi on Thursday through beautiful Amsterdam to Haarlem to visit the Jopenkerk Brewery. It is one of the trendiest craft beer breweries in the Netherlands! And the special thing is: it is located in a former church. Together with brewery director Michael Oderman and brewer Alessandro Stanojkovski, Roland and Ossi developed a recipe for a bottom-fermented Schwarzbier and brewed a collaboration batch. They even brought the Spalter Select hops all the way from Franconia especially for this. We’re already looking forward to the result – in about six weeks, the Schwarzbier can be enjoyed on tap at our restaurant in Weiher! To round off Thursday evening, there was a tasting of our Weiherer beers, joined by our customer Tim Janssens from Drinkgoed in Amsterdam. Roland and Ossi spent two wonderful days in the Netherlands full of informative discussions as well as cheerful and sociable hours with true (beer) friends. We’re already looking forward to meeting again in Weiher!
