Awards

Life is full of experiences. Many shape who we are. And some make us truly proud. For more than 150 years, Kundmüller Brewery has stood for beer specialities from the Bamberg region and is considered one of the most highly awarded breweries in Germany. In 2025, it was named “Brewery of the Year” at the Finest Beer Selection awards. In addition, 33 medals at the European Beer Star, over 70 medals at the World Beer Awards, and 6 medals at the world’s largest beer competition, the World Beer Cup, testify to the quality of Weiherer beers. In 2025, Weiherer Rauch was crowned World Champion with the gold medal at the World Beer Cup, and in 2024 Weiherer Kräusen Hell was awarded “Best Kellerbier” at the same competition. Weiherer / Cervejaria Bamberg Zapfendusterreceived the world champion title twice in a row at the World Beer Awards in 2024 and 2025 (“Best Stout & Porter in the World” / “Best Stout in the World”), and in 2023 Weiherer Pils won the world champion title in this competition. Sustainability also plays a major role, which was strongly underscored by winning the Future Award at the European Beer Star in 2022. In addition, Kundmüller Brewery received the 2025 Future Prize from the Chamber of Crafts of Upper Franconia in the category “Energy-efficient" Sustainable Craftsmanship.” The city and district of Bamberg also recognised the brewery’s commitment to climate and environmental protection with the 2025 Climate Protection Award for the project "Sustainability Transformation of a Traditional Family Brewery“. In 2025, the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy awarded the Bavarian Export Prize together with the Bavarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Association of Bavarian Chambers of Crafts and in cooperation with Bayern International. This award honours small and medium-sized enterprises that are successfully active in foreign markets and excel in meeting the challenges of our globalised world. All these awards are significant experiences for the Kundmüller family — and make them very proud!

Judging criteria in beer competitions

In the blind tastings of all the beer competitions and awards mentioned, the criteria include colour, aroma, foam and, of course, taste — characteristics that every beer drinker can easily identify.
